FO Fest

What I finished:

This past weekend, I finished my Run Freedom Run gloves, which are part of my costume for Urinetown: The Musical. The sewing’s a bit sloppy, cause I was rushed, but the other cast members were impressed. One girl asked me how much I would charge for a hat! They’re pretty comfy, although they make my palms get ridiculously sweaty under the stage lights. I’ll add a picture on Saturday, cause until Friday they have a comfy home in the dressing room.

Haven’t had any time to knit because of the aforementioned musical. When I get home, I’m just awake enough to get through my homework, and then I go straight to bed.

Frog patrol:
Frogged Lady Christina Pullover because I managed to twist the 2394832497 stitches when I joined in the round and took it as a sign that this was the wrong yarn with the wrong project.
Swatched Whisper Cardigan in AwaT Fino and opted not to; too see-through

What I accomplished:
Started Rose Red Cardigan, which is Whisper Cardigan in Malabrigo Sock; the Ravelry Red colorway. It is so delicious! So far the only mods I’m making are adding hems and ribbing to the sleeves, as well as a hem to the bottom edge. I’ve finished the hem part on sleeve 1; haven’t gotten too far.
Also started Run Freedom Run Gloves, which are Waffle Stitch Fingerless Gloves in Knit Picks City Tweed HW. I am even more in love with the worsted version of this yarn. I’d never understood when people described yarn as “buttery” until now. It is like heaven to knit with! And the colorway, Cottontail, is incredibly aptly named; it looks just like a bunny rabbit!

I haven’t had much time to knit, because I’m really involved in my school’s musical. So I go to school from 8 am to 3 pm, then I have rehearsal from 3 pm to 7 pm. When I get home, I’m so bone-tired that I just eat, do my homework, do the day’s crossword puzzle and go to sleep. I need to knit, though, because I’m knitting the aforementioned mitts as part of my costume. The show is Urinetown, and I’m in the ensemble, which is all the poor people who rise up against Urine Good Company because they can’t afford to pay the company’s fees to use public bathrooms. And nothing says Poor Person In A Musical like fingerless gloves.

Yesterday I made the swatch and cast on for my Lady Christina Pullover. It’s named after Lady Christina de Souza, from the Doctor Who episode Planet of the Dead. The planet in the episode was entirely covered with sand, so the sandy color of the yarn reminded me of it. I unraveled the swatch immediately after making it, so no picture, but it is ridiculously soft, has a great drape, and is a bit see-through, so I will need to wear a shirt under this, even though it’s soft enough to wear next to the skin. I’m really excited to get this sweater in the works!
